i just wanted to share some pictures of the motor internal of my 1997 suzuki TL1000S. the motor was recently replaced due to a failed output shaft bearing, a common failure on the first year models subjected to abuse. my bike has 65K miles on it. i started using it for drag racing about 4 years ago and it has about 500 passes and three NHRA season pro et bike track titles at various so cal dragstrips.
i used rotella T dino style and changed the oil every 1500 miles. the motor was spotless inside and the bearings, gears, pistons, etc all look new...

some pictures from the races...

 videos too...

Great pictures, thanks for sharing them. What else can we ask from an oil?
I'm using the Rotella 5w/40 syn in my 2001 Honda Valkyrie...
Great product...

Motor looks great. Thanks for posting the pics.
Question though, are you the original owner? And if so, what oils did you run since new? (Rotella T synthetic hasnt been around since 1997.) Whatever you ran, and for whatever OIC's, looks like you did good...please share your maintence routine!

If I'm right, your TL1000 is a twin engine? The reason why I'm asking I want to see if its OK to run the Rotella 5w-40 full syn oil in my Ducati 749 bike? Thanks

Nice pics. Do you attribute the bearing failure to oil starvation? (I see your screen name "N2 wheelies" and know of the tiller oil pick up.) I know AMSOIL could only wish for suerior results like this after 65,000 miles. See how clean that engine is? That's superior detergent packaging folks! Shellguy, you need to make this a "sticky."

1500 mile intervals and clean inside? Yes, I am sure Amsoil could never keep an engine clean at those long intervals.

This doesn?t warrant a sticky, as nice as those pics are, I've seen the same results first hand. Its the maintenance routine that is key here.
And we haven?t heard what oils he used in the late 90's, and if he was the original owner. No history...

Do you have any pictures of the 1000R that seized a pin using Amsoil? I'd like to see that. I'm sure the owner took pictures and documented the damage so the faulty oil manufacterer could be allowed to investigate and compensate him for such an exspensive bike. I know without a doubt that if my ride had that happen and I didn't run it hot or low on oil I would be in their face. An example would be a very popular truck oil maker having to buy some diesel engines becouse some of their product damaged engines and it was proven. Now, if you run an oil that wasn't designed to be in a bike and you have a problem, you are SOL.
